Creamy Tomato Pasta Recipe

A rich and comforting creamy tomato pasta made with simple ingredients and ready in under 30 minutes. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

  • 200g pasta (penne or your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Lower the heat and add the heavy cream, stirring until fully combined and heated through.
  6. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and smooth.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • You can use any type of pasta like spaghetti, fusilli, or rigatoni.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based cream and omit the cheese or use vegan cheese.
  • Add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
