Creamy Garlic Parmesan Orzo

A quick and creamy garlic parmesan orzo dish made in just 25 minutes. Perfect as a comforting side or a standalone vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the orzo and cook for 2-3 minutes to lightly toast.
  4. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese and heavy cream. Mix until creamy and well combined.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
  • Can be served as a side or main dish.
  • Add cooked chicken or sautéed mushrooms for extra protein.
