1/4cup granulated sugar
1/4cup water
1 tablespoon orange juice

8ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons chopped pecans (optional)

Spread Assembly: Place softened cream cheese on a serving plate, spread into an even layer. Spoon cooled cranberry mixture over cream cheese. Sprinkle with pecans. Serve with crackers or baguette slices.
Notes
You can make the cranberry topping up to 3 days in advance and store it in the fridge.
For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne to the cranberry mixture.
Goat cheese can be used instead of cream cheese for a tangier flavor.
