- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 lb lump crab meat, drained and flaked
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Add cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, then add milk and egg. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
- Fold in the crab meat, green onions, and parsley.
- Spoon the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming about 10-12 biscuits.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
- While the biscuits bake, prepare the lemon butter by combining melted butter, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a small bowl.
- Once biscuits are done, remove from the oven and brush with the lemon butter glaze while still warm.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure the crab meat is well-drained to avoid soggy biscuits.
- Feel free to add extra cheese for a cheesier flavor.
- If you want a spicier kick, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add a few dashes of hot sauce to the lemon butter glaze.
- These biscuits are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
