Description

Crab Stuffed Cheddar Bay Biscuits with Lemon Butter are a delicious twist on the classic Cheddar Bay biscuits, filled with sweet, tender crab meat and topped with a zesty lemon butter glaze. Perfect for any seafood lover!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 lb lump crab meat, drained and flaked
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Add cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, then add milk and egg. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  5. Fold in the crab meat, green onions, and parsley.
  6. Spoon the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming about 10-12 biscuits.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. While the biscuits bake, prepare the lemon butter by combining melted butter, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a small bowl.
  9. Once biscuits are done, remove from the oven and brush with the lemon butter glaze while still warm.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the crab meat is well-drained to avoid soggy biscuits.
  • Feel free to add extra cheese for a cheesier flavor.
  • If you want a spicier kick, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add a few dashes of hot sauce to the lemon butter glaze.
  • These biscuits are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
