Mushrooms:

  • 1 lb cremini or button mushrooms (cleaned and halved)

  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pan.
  2. Sauté Onions: Add butter to the skillet and stir in the onions. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Cook Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and tender.
  4. Season and Finish: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper if using, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and toss to combine. Cook for another 1–2 minutes to heat through.
  5. Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
