  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • Pink and blue food coloring

Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Pink and blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare cupcake pan: Preheat oven to 350°F and line a cupcake pan with 12 liners.
  2. Prepare cupcake batter: Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, and cotton candy flavoring. Gradually mix in dry ingredients and milk until just combined.
  3. Tint and bake: Divide batter, tint one portion pink and the other blue. Spoon into liners, swirling colors. Bake for 18–20 minutes. Cool completely.
  4. Make frosting: Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in flavoring and cream until fluffy.
  5. Decorate cupcakes: Divide frosting into pink and blue, pipe onto cupcakes, and top with cotton candy before serving.
