1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
3/4cup granulated sugar
3/4cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Gradually beat in the flour mixture until fully combined.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For softer cookies, slightly underbake and allow to finish setting while cooling.
Use room temperature ingredients for best mixing consistency.
