Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Panna Cotta:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp powdered gelatin
  • 3 Tbsp cold water
  • 2 Tbsp instant espresso powder (or strong brewed coffee reduced to 2 Tbsp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Garnish:

  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom Gelatin: In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare Panna Cotta Mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, and espresso powder. Heat until sugar dissolves and mixture is steaming, but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. Chill: Pour the mixture into ramekins or serving glasses. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
  4. Serve: Before serving, top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut cream and almond milk.
  • Adjust espresso strength based on preference.
  • Panna cotta can be unmolded or served directly in glasses.
