Description

A classic green bean casserole made with tender green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crispy fried onions. Perfect for holiday dinners or comforting side dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups cooked cut green beans (or 2 cans, drained)
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Add the green beans and 2/3 cup of the French fried onions to the mixture. Stir gently to coat.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a 1 1/2-quart baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbling.
  6. Stir the casserole and top with the remaining French fried onions.
  7. Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

  • You can use fresh or frozen green beans instead of canned for a fresher taste.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake, adding fried onions just before baking.
  • Try adding shredded cheese or sautéed mushrooms for variation.
