These Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats are a quick and easy no-bake dessert made with crispy rice cereal, melted chocolate, and marshmallows. Perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 10 oz (about 40) marshmallows
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat.
- Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
- Stir in the salt and vanilla extract.
- Remove from heat and quickly mix in the Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated.
- Fold in the chocolate chips while the mixture is still warm but not hot, so they partially melt and create swirls.
- Press the mixture into the prepared dish evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper.
- Let cool completely at room temperature before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Use mini marshmallows for faster melting.
- Do not overheat the marshmallows to keep treats soft.
- For richer chocolate flavor, drizzle melted chocolate on top before cooling.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
