Units Scale

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks (for mixing in)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the melted chocolate and mix until fully incorporated. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Finish Dough: Fold in the remaining chocolate chips or chunks.
  6. Bake: Drop tablespoon-sized scoops of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers still look slightly soft.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy texture, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty finish.
