Ingredients

Units Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
  • butter or oil for the griddle

Instructions

  1. Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until moistened. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

  3. Cooking: Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2–3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.
  4. Serving: Serve warm with butter, syrup, and extra chocolate chips if desired.

Notes

  • For extra fluffiness, let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes before cooking.
  • You can substitute buttermilk for regular milk for a tangy flavor.
