Potatoes:
2 1/2lbs russet potatoes (peeled and thinly sliced)
Cheese Sauce:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2cups whole milk
1cup heavy cream
2cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Garnish:
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Make Cheese Sauce: Melt butter, whisk in flour, then gradually add milk and cream. Stir in seasonings and cheeses until smooth.
Layer Potatoes: Alternate layers of sliced potatoes and cheese sauce in the baking dish.
Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20–25 minutes until golden.
Rest and Serve: Let it rest for 10 minutes before garnishing with parsley and serving.
Notes
Yukon Gold potatoes can be used for a creamier texture.
