Brownie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Cheesecake Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make brownie layer: Whisk melted butter and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Pour batter into pan, reserving 1/4 cup.
  3. Prepare cheesecake layer: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over brownie batter. Dollop reserved brownie batter on top and swirl with a knife.
  4. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes until set. Cool before slicing into squares.

Notes
