Description

Carne Asada Tacos are flavorful and juicy grilled steak tacos, marinated with citrus and spices, then served on warm tortillas with fresh toppings.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup diced white onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • Salsa, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Place the steak in a large resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for 4-6 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
  4. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice thinly against the grain.
  5. Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet.
  6. Assemble the tacos by placing sliced carne asada in tortillas and topping with diced onion, cilantro, and salsa.
  7. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Marinating the steak overnight enhances the flavor.
  • Use skirt steak for a more tender texture.
  • Optional toppings include avocado, queso fresco, or pickled onions.
