Ingredients
UnitsScale
1 1/2lbs flank or skirt steak
1/4cup orange juice
1/4cup lime juice
1/4cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 jalapeño, chopped
1/4cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste
8 small corn tortillas
1/2cup diced white onion
1/2cup chopped cilantro
1 lime, cut into wedges
Salsa, for serving
Instructions
In a bowl, mix orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
Place the steak in a large resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for 4-6 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice thinly against the grain.
Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet.
Assemble the tacos by placing sliced carne asada in tortillas and topping with diced onion, cilantro, and salsa.
Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
Marinating the steak overnight enhances the flavor.
Use skirt steak for a more tender texture.
Optional toppings include avocado, queso fresco, or pickled onions.
