Description
A quick and flavorful Caprese Pasta with Italian Sausage, combining cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil for a delicious weeknight dinner ready in 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 12 oz pasta (penne or fusilli)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
- 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Add the cherry tomatoes, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 4–5 minutes, until the tomatoes soften and release juices.
- Stir in the cooked pasta and toss to combine.
- Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil and mozzarella balls.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve warm, topped with grated Parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Use spicy Italian sausage for added heat.
- Can substitute mozzarella balls with cubed fresh mozzarella.
- Add a splash of balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
