  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Topping:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Sauté aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Cook ground beef: Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through.
  4. Add vegetables and seasonings: Stir in shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the cabbage softens slightly.
  5. Combine with rice: Remove from heat and stir in cooked rice. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  6. Add topping: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
