Bowtie Pasta Ziti:

  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage or ground beef
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil salted water and cook bowtie pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a skillet, sauté onion in olive oil until softened. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Cook the Meat: Add and cook ground sausage or beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Make the Sauce: Add marinara sauce, cream, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Combine and Bake: Mix cooked pasta with sauce and cheeses. Transfer to a baking dish, top with mozzarella, and bake at 375°F until bubbly.
