1 1/2pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
1/2cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1/4cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
8oz mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon flour
2cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 oval patties.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add butter and mushrooms. Sauté until mushrooms are browned and tender, about 5-6 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir for 1 minute to cook off the raw taste.
Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer.
Stir in Dijon mustard and ketchup. Simmer until the gravy thickens slightly, about 3-4 minutes.
Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer covered for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
You can use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
Add a splash of heavy cream for extra richness in the gravy.
