Marinated Chicken:

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, combine chicken with 1 tbsp soy sauce and cornstarch. Marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Make the sauce: Whisk together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, water, and black pepper.
  3. Cook the chicken: Brown marinated chicken in oil, then set aside.
  4. Stir-fry veggies: Sauté onion, bell pepper, and garlic.
  5. Combine: Return chicken to the pan, add sauce, and cook until thickened.
  6. Finish: Drizzle with sesame oil, garnish with green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add red pepper flakes or chopped chili.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.
  • Chicken breast can be used as a substitute.
