  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil: In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic: Add diced onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add tomatoes and seasonings: Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 25–30 minutes.
