Dry Ingredients:
1cup all-purpose flour
1/4cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
1/4cup milk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
For the glaze:
1cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
Combine wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Add apples: Gently fold in the diced apples.
Bake: Scoop about 1/4 cup of batter for each fritter onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until golden brown.
Make the glaze: While the fritters bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Glaze the fritters: Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters or dip the tops for a thicker coating. Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
These fritters are best served warm but can be reheated in the microwave or toaster oven.
Try adding a pinch of nutmeg or swapping in pears for a twist.
For extra sweetness, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before baking.
