Dough:

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the Dough: Stir in olive oil, then add flour and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide and Shape: Punch down the dough and divide into two equal portions. Shape each into a ball, cover, and let rest for another 15–20 minutes before rolling out for pizza.
