Description

This Armenian Meat Flatbread recipe features a flavorful ground beef mixture seasoned with aromatic spices, spread over crispy flatbreads, and baked to perfection. It’s a quick and satisfying dish perfect for a comforting meal that serves four.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon allspice

Other Ingredients

  • 4 flatbreads
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the flatbreads.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic and sauté until they become translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet along with salt, black pepper, paprika, and allspice. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully browned and no longer pink, about 7-8 minutes.
  4. Assemble Flatbreads: Evenly spread the cooked beef mixture over each flatbread, making sure to cover the surface but leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Bake: Place the prepared flatbreads on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the edges of the flatbreads turn golden brown and crisp.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for a burst of color and flavor. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought flatbreads for convenience or make your own for a more authentic touch.
  • For added flavor, consider topping the flatbreads with a thin layer of tomato paste before adding the meat mixture.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add some red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
  • Leftover flatbreads can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven for best crispiness.
