8oz cream cheese (softened)
1/4cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3cups powdered sugar
Instructions
Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well. Mix in the vanilla extract.
Combine wet and dry ingredients: Stir in the applesauce, then gradually add the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined. Pour batter into the pan.
Bake the cake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool the cake completely.
Make the frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla extract and cinnamon. Gradually mix in powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Frost the cake: Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
