  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup peeled and finely diced apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
  • Optional Glaze: 1/2 cup powdered sugar + 1-2 teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare biscuit dough: In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients. Cut in cold butter, then stir in buttermilk. Toss diced apples with spices and sugar, fold into dough.
  3. Shape and bake: Pat dough into a rectangle, cut out rounds, place on baking sheet, and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  4. Finish and serve: Brush warm biscuits with melted butter. Drizzle with optional glaze if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm; can be gently reheated.
  • Try adding chopped pecans for extra crunch or honeycrisp apples for a sweeter variation.
