  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add dry ingredients, then fold in apples, pecans, and milk.
  4. Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake for 45–50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Make glaze: Melt butter in a saucepan, add brown sugar and milk. Boil gently for 2 minutes, then stir in vanilla.
  6. Glaze the cake: Pour warm glaze over the hot cake and let it cool slightly before slicing.
