These Almond Bars are rich, buttery cookie bars topped with sliced almonds and a sweet almond glaze. They’re simple to make and perfect for holidays, potlucks, or anytime snacking.

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and almond extract; mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds evenly over the top and gently press them into the dough.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool completely in the pan.
- In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract to make the glaze. Drizzle over cooled bars.
- Cut into squares or bars and serve.
Notes
- Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleaner cuts.
- Add a dash of vanilla extract for a flavor twist.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
