Description

Crispy and juicy homemade chicken nuggets made in the air fryer for a healthier twist on a classic favorite.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil spray

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In another bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat each piece in the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  6. Place the coated chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  7. Spray the tops lightly with oil spray.
  8. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  9. Remove and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, use panko breadcrumbs.
  • You can substitute buttermilk with plain yogurt or milk with a splash of vinegar.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
