Crispy and juicy homemade chicken nuggets made in the air fryer for a healthier twist on a classic favorite.

- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking spray or oil spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
- In another bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat each piece in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Place the coated chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Spray the tops lightly with oil spray.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Remove and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, use panko breadcrumbs.
- You can substitute buttermilk with plain yogurt or milk with a splash of vinegar.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
