A Homemade Vegan Burger Recipe

A delicious and hearty homemade vegan burger made with wholesome ingredients, perfect for a satisfying and healthy plant-based meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked black beans, mashed
  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed mixed with 6 tbsp water (flax egg)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for cooking
  • Burger buns, lettuce, tomato, vegan mayo, and toppings of choice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the flax egg by mixing ground flaxseed with water and let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed black beans, cooked quinoa, onion, garlic, carrot, oats, flax egg, soy sauce, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden and firm.
  5. Toast the burger buns if desired. Assemble the burgers with your favorite toppings and condiments.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute black beans with chickpeas or lentils.
  • Store uncooked patties in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Customize the seasoning to suit your taste.
